Profane Science | The Classical Atom

It has been 100 years since the invention of quantum mechanics. This episode is an introduction to classical theories of the atom, both prior to the invention of quantum mechanics, and subsequent work studying the problem of radiation of a classical particle. This led to Randell Mills's breakthrough model of the hydrogen atom which surpasses the ability of quantum theory to calculate the energy levels of atoms.
